Art as Witness

Some paintings get better with time. This is a painting describing my life in 2005. I see two little girls, Alzheimer’s, an old dog, a new puppy, Allen cooking pumpkins in our little house, and the absolute beauty of life. We no longer live in this 900-square-foot California dream house we rented for 12 years and it’s about to get torn down. Allen is still roasting pumpkins, Sunny is in Paris this Thanksgiving, the Jack Russel and chihuahua are not with us anymore and I am grateful I made this painting. Happy Thanksgiving everyone.
